Overview
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, vocational nurses provide direct patient care, including taking vital signs, administering medications, assisting with treatments, and using medical equipment. They monitor and report patient conditions, ensure patient safety and comfort, and maintain effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare staff.
Upon completion of the Vocational Nursing Program, the student will be
eligible for application for licensure as a Licensed Vocational Nurse and be able to:

Tuition and Fees
Cost of instruction includes NCLEX Review, Basic EKG, IV Certification, BLS Certification and MAB and books and supplies. However, in case the student withdraws from the program, the documented cost of the book(s) and supplies will be charged but unearned instruction will be excluded.

Supplemental materials such as study guide/ reviewer may be purchased upon the discretion of the student. Entrance Exam fee are included in the student’s total tuition fee.

Admission Requirement for Vocational Nursing:
Applicant must:
1. Be 17 years old and above
2. Submit a valid high school diploma/transcript or certificate of high school equivalency, or GED or Certificate of accreditation of courses if a foreign graduate. If high school diploma is from outside the United States, it must be evaluated by International Education Research Foundation (www.ierf.org).
3. Submit a complete admissions application
4. Submit valid ID
5. Submit completed physical examination report, and TB test or chest X-ray report. TB test must be done within the last 6 months. Chest X-ray is needed if tested positive for TB. Chest X-ray reports is valid for 2 years. Submit Immunization records and Influenza vaccine.
6. Pass the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) entrance exam given by the school with at least Proficient level grade of 60% or above
7. Submit an essay “Why I want to be a part of the Nursing Program”
8. Submit proof of background check and passing drug screening.
Note: Laptop is required for purposes of online research and ATI proctored and Exit Exams.
The Program Director or designee evaluates the information received for completeness. A letter to the applicant is sent to applicant regarding status. If the file is complete, the Program Director or designee schedules applicant to meet with Medical Allied Career Center professional admission panel. The applicant receives a confirmation letter explaining the process, date, time and location of appointment. If the selected date and time provides a scheduling conflict for the applicant, the applicant may contact the Program Director to schedule a new date and time.
All applicants are required to complete a personal interview with the School Director or designee prior to signing an Enrollment Agreement. Personal interviews give the School Director an opportunity to conclude an applicant’s qualifications for enrollment in any program.

What is a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)?
An entry-level health care provider who is responsible for rendering basic nursing care. A vocational nurse practices under the direction of a physician or registered nurse.
Care for ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled persons in hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, private homes, group homes, and similar institutions. Licensing required.

What is the difference between a CNA and LVN?
CNAs focus on basic patient care, while LVNs can perform tasks like wound care, monitoring vital signs, and assisting in medical procedures. Licensing is required.
LVNs care for ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled persons in hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, private homes, group homes, and similar institutions. May work under the supervision of a registered nurse. Licensing is required.
CNA undergoes a 4 – 6 weeks training (160 clock hours) while LVN undergoes an extensive 13 – 19 month training (1554 clock hours).
How long is the Vocational Nursing program?
Full – time – 12-14 months (Weekdays)
Part – time – 18- 20 months ( 2 weekday evenings and weekends)

What will I learn in the Vocational Nursing Program?
Courses will introduce you to Anatomy & Physiology, Nutrition, Growth and Development, Psychology, Pharmacology and Fundamentals. At Fundamentals, you will learn basic nursing skills during skills lab and at clinical rotations.
You will be going to a clinical environment where you will apply what you have learned in fundamentals of nursing, patient care under the supervision of your clinical instructors.
You will learn to care for patients with different needs and support services for older adults designed to manage complex, multiple chronic conditions, improve quality of life, and maintain independence as well as focusing on functional, mental and social health.
